About Me

My name is Nicole Otero, I'm 26 years old, and I was raised in the Hudson Valley. NY Revival was created when I realized I could combine my personal love of hunting for pre-loved objects, with the ability to honor artisanship.

ā€‹From helping restore the interior and exterior of a 1957 sailboat on the Hudson River, to professionally staging/photographing fine goods for an auction house (pictured below), to helping furnish rooms with handpicked decor - I am driven by anything to do with the world of timeless artistry.
I am currently a student at the Asheford Institute of Antiques, the world's largest distance-learning school for antiques, collectibles, and appraising. This program is designed to provide training in identifying, dating, and valuing antique & vintage objects. Through its curriculum, I am learning how to analyze historical styles, recognize authentic markings, and apply appraisal strategies.
To perfect my technique, I hunt for pre-owned objects from thrift stores/garage sales/etc. in my free time, and let my imagination do the rest once Iā€™ve got my hands on something I see potential in. Iā€™ve also been an in-person apprentice in the industry for over two years, where I have been lucky enough to observe the best in the industry, while gaining invaluable hands-on experience. Rest assured, that if I run into a obstacle while handling your piece, I maintain contact with several seasoned mentors who point me in the right direction as needed.
